Men pass through time with tragic rapidity ; things survive more stubbornly ; time, pursuing itself in its perpetual cycle, forgets everything.
But the existence of things can be expanded thanks to the art which thus becomes, at the same time, souvenir and symbol, a memorial to man’s fragile existence. In resisting the passing of time, photography is a privileged art insofar as it is by choice both fixity and timelessness.
